FAQ
Here you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions by customers
How do I add events to my calendar?
You can use the + button in CER to open your favorite calendar app and create the event there. CER does not offer to create events directly as it seamlessly integrates with your favorite calendar app.
Does CER replace my calendar app?
No, it seamlessly integrates with your favorite app. This can either be the default Google Calendar app or any third party app that is using the standard Android calendar/event management.
However, CER let’s you view all the upcoming or past reminders that are associated to the events of your calendar. You can long-press them in the list and then use “view” or “edit” to open the event directly in your calendar app.
Can I have different settings per calendar?
Yes, of course! By default, CER uses the same settings for all calendars and their event reminders. But you can disable the global settings and then define per-calendar settings. You will then be asked if the global settings should be copied over to all individual calendar settings. If you once moved back to global settings, you can safely go back to individual settings without copying the global settings over again.
Can I export the settings and restore it on a different device?
Yes! From the settings use the bottom bar to export the settings to your phone or SD card. Then copy the cer-settings.xml to the other device and use the import button from the buttom bar.
Does CER store or transmit any personal data?
No. All your data is stored in the Android calendar database and CER just reads it for displaying alarms. There is no personal data from your device stored or sent anywhere by CER.
What happens if there are multiple reminders at the same time?
CER displays each alarm one after the other so you can be sure you won’t miss any.
Why am I not getting reminders for my calendar events
Please make sure that for every calendar event that you create you also set a reminder. If there is no reminder attached to the event, CER will not raise an alarm.
You can also set multiple reminders for a calendar event and CER will then raise an alarm for every single one of them.
Why am I not getting any alarm sound?
You might be in the wrong sound mode or have not set the right mode in CER. Please go to sound settings and check the “Active modes”.
Also please ensure that you have set a ringtone and not select “silent” there.
Another problem could be a wrong volume setting. This can also be checked in the sound settings.
Can I test the alarm before setting an event
Yes, just open the settings and tap the “Test alarm” icon on the bottom. If you have per-calender settings enabled, a picker lets you choose which calendar to test. Only active (enabled) calendars are offered.
How do I snooze / postpone an alarm?
When an alarm fires, the alert screen offers a snooze option. The snooze duration can be configured in the settings, including a separate duration for all-day events.
Can I activate / deactivate alarming without opening CER?
Yes, there is a quicktile setting that you can add to your Android quicktiles and use it to disable or enable alarming.
Can I have a customized text-to-speech message for my events?
Absolutely! You can find this in the sound settings and there set the TTS message template. You can use any text you like and insert placeholders for specific event information.
Does the app work with Google Calendar, Exchange, and other accounts?
Yes — any calendar that is synced to the Android system calendar (Google, Exchange, CalDAV, etc.) is visible to the app. CER does not connect to those calendar apps directly.
Which calendar apps are supported?
You can use any third party app that is based on the Android calendar. We don’t know all of them but here is a list of very popular apps that are supported:
– Microsoft Outlook (if you copy the events to the local calendar)
– Business Calendar
– aCalendar
– Samsung Calendar
– Simlpe Calendar
– DigiCal Calendar
– Jorte
Why is the alarm sound repeated even though I selected “play only once” in the preferences?
Maybe the ringtone you have chosen contains a repeating sound sample. Please try a different ringtone.
Why are the alarms sometimes one hour earlier or late?
Maybe you traveled and the phone switched time zones (without recognizing DST). Please check this.
Why are entries for all day events shown the day before?
The list of reminders is calculated by using event start time minus reminder minutes. So if you set up a reminder with 15 minutes for an all day event, it will show up on 11:45 pm the day before.
